[Cognate Application, 5902/15.] Bracelets.-In order to obtain a long range of extension, each of the hollow middle links a, Figs. 5 and 9, of an expanding bracelet contains a pair of springs c, d arranged one above the other and working on guide wires e, f which pass through the springs and through the transverse abutment portions g<1>, h<1> of two slides g, h connecting each mid lie link a to pairs of side links b as shown. The slides g, h, which pass through central s'ots a<1>, a<2> extending right up to the closed ends a<3>, a<4> of the link a, are cranked, as shown in Fig. 13, with the abutment portions g<1>, h<1> extended beyond the portions g<2>, h<2>, which travel in the slots a<1>, a<2> to allow long spriogs to be used and the ends g<2>, h<2> to move up to the ends of the slots a', a<2>. The side links b, which are pivotally connected to the knobbed ends g<4>, h<4> of the slides g, h, have slots b<5> with an enlargement b<6>, Fig. 15, to admit the knobs g<4>, h<4>, these ends being retained in position by a flexible stop-platej which is sprung into each side link. In making the bracelet, the middle link elements are completely assembled before they are connected up with the side links. The middle link is made in two half sections in which the guide wires, iu the form of staples with the slides threaded on their legs, are placed, the sections being then coldered edge to edge. The ends of the staple are then cut off and the springs inserted by twisting through holes i in the ends a<3>, a<4> of the shell a. The side links may be in the form of solid plates tu which the ends of the slides are riveted or otherwise fixed.
