Abstract

4363. Mitchell, G. March 19. Hose-pipes.-In hose-pipes of the kind having either an internal or external armouring, longitudinal creeping of the wire coil a, Fig. 1, is prevented by bending the ends a<1> of the coil in a direction parallel to the axis of the hose and anchoring them either by embedding them in the substance b of the hose, as shown, or by means of a wire binding upon the outside of the hose, according to whether the hose is internally or externally armoured. Circumferential creeping or unwinding of the coil is prevented by giving the wire a slightly sinuous form, as shown in Fig. 3, or by making the wire of irregular cross-section, so that when embedded in the surface of the rubber portion b, the bed formed is of corresponding irregular shape.
