Abstract

3020. Knobloch, A. Feb. 24. Lenses.- A lens system, applicable particularly for photographic purposes, consists of two lenses with cemented spherical surfaces of curvatures such as practically to remove astigmatism, and has an outer surface which is not spherical but is so shaped as to remove spherical aberrations due to the spherical surfaces employed in the system. This outer surface may, as shown in the Figure, be of ellipsoidal form. Particulars of curvatures and glasses are given for one form. A double objective may be formed with two components constructed as described above, or a partially corrected component may be combined with a second component designed to correct the errors of the first.
