Linear-dimension gauges. - A micrometer gauge, in which the movable member slides instead of screws, has British and metric dimensions upon the barrel n, Fig. 6, the figures on which are visible through an opening c; a sleeve, Fig. 5, provided with helical graduation lines, is turned until one of the lines passes through an angular index d, the subdivision being read in a window h. Interchangeable sleeves for British and metric dimensions are employed. An eccentric locking-ring S is provided, fine adjustments being obtained By means of a screw t. Subdivisions of one-thousandth of an inch may be read by means of a vernier G.
