85. Duckham, A. M. Jan. 2. Hopper wagons. - A coke hopper is discharged by a rotary shoot set at such an angle that the discharge is only effected when the shoot is in rotation. In the apparatus shown, for dealing with coke from gasretorts, two hoppers a are mounted on a travelling framework b, and discharge through the shoots d and the filler q on to a bucket conveyer s. The mouths r of the filler come in turn into operative position simultaneously with the buckets of the conveyer. The shoots d are mounted on rollers e, f and are driven, together with the filler q, from the conveyer through the toothed rings k, belt pulleys o, bevel-gearing p, and the belts q. The rings k are secured to the filler q and are supported by rollers m on the framework.
