Abstract

24,183. Degen & Kuth. Dec. 16, 1913, [Convention date]. Wadding.-Cellulose wadding is produced from a dry cellulose pulp board, made in a paper-making machine so that the fibres lie substantially parallel with one another, by disintegrating the board by means, such as spiked rollers, acting substantially in the direction of the fibres and preferably on both sides of the board, which is firmly supported during the disintegration. Cotton-wool may be added to the cellulose in the desired quantity before, during, or after the disintegration of the board, and a fleece comprising alternate layers of cellulose and cotton-wool waddings may be produced. In the disintegrating-machine, the cellulose pulp board b may pass from a roller a, between feeding-rollers c, d, to rollers e, f, g, where it is subjected to the action of disintegrating-rollers h, j, l, n rotating at the desired speeds and in the desired directions. Rotary brushes i, k, m, o, p, q remove the separated fibres from the various rollers, and the fibres fall on to a travelling band r, pass between the band r and a band s, and are delivered in the form of a fleece at v.
