1387539 Folded webs FORSCHUNGSIN STITUT FUR TEXTILTECHNOLOGIE 14 Nov 1973 52803/73 Heading D1N A card or teasel has a doffer 8 with zones on its surface of differing clothing. Alternate zones have normal clothing and clotting where the wires are partially or completely removed, covered, filled in or ground down, alternatively the wires are modified in fineness, shape and/or reduced in density. This produces a web with alternating stripes of high and low density fibre concentration. The web is then folded e.g. by an oscillating funnel 7 or oscillating rolls at the low density zones. This provides a fleece having obliquely raised three dimensionally orientated fibres. Successive zones on the doffer may have differing lengths.
