Abstract

22,361. Heller, H. Nov. 11. Incrustation and corrosion, preventing.- Water is treated so as to prevent formation of boiler scale, by softening it with sodium phosphate, removing the precipitate, and adding tannin or other vegetable extract which prevents adhesion of scale in the boiler. The tannin may be added outside the boiler, and the precipitate formed be removed; or the addition may be made to the water in the boiler.
