[Addition to 3258/14.] Edge-runners and pans and like mills.-In a modification of the mill claimed in the parent Specification in which an horizontal rotating grinding-ring A with a concave upper face is supported on three or more rollers B, one of which is driven, and one or more grinding-rollers C revolving on swivelling shafts D are pressed against the face of the ring A, the shaft B<2> of the driven supporting-roller is extended beyond the centre of the machine and provided with means for driving one of the grinding- rollers C. Chain gearing B<3>, D<2> is shown, but an open belt may be employed. The wire ropes E or the like passing over or secured to the shafts D of the grinding-rollers C and connected to weights or springs F, are inclined to the vertical in a direction opposite to that in which the adjacent part of the ring A moves, to reduce the twisting stress on the pivots D<1> of the shafts D. To remove dust from the casing K, the central pedestal P is made hollow and formed with apertures through which air is forced ; tubes P' may extend from the apertures towards the grinding-ring A.
