Stencils and stencilling.-In a rotary duplicating-machine, instead of attaching the stencil directly to studs on the drum, it is attached to an intermediate plate provided with open-ended slots to engage the studs on the drum, and with studs or projections to engage the stencil sheet. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 6, a plate a is provided with studs c to engage L-shaped slots in the stencil d, and is itself furnished with open slots b to engage the drum studs i. The plate may be provided with a raised portion c adapted to engage frictionally with a cover-plate f, which carries the studs i and is screwed to the drum members g. The slots in the stencil may turn in the opposite direction to that shown. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the plate a is provided with a series of tapped holes k to receive screwed studs c in positions to suit the pitch of the slots in the stencil. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the plate a is provided with straight slots l and springs m to engage frictionally with the drum studs i. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the plate a is provided with a turned-over end n to engage a point in the stencil.
