Abstract

14,689. Walkey, W. R., and Tubex Engineering Co. June 18. Radiations, effecting chemical reactions by. -In apparatus for sterilizing milk, beer, or other liquids by ultraviolet light, the surface over which the liquid flows by capillary attraction as a thin film while under treatment is corrugated in a vertical plane, and curved as a whole about the source of light so that the rays are substantially normal at all parts and more effectively utilized. As shown, the surfaces B over which the liquid trickles are curved about the sources of light D, and a series of these surfaces are arranged around the lamps, being hinged to a supporting framework A. Liquid is supplied through orifices C<1> from a tank C, and a funnel C<2> at the top of the apparatus serves to cause a circulation of air therethrough and carry off ozone and heated air, with or without the assistance of a fan. The surfaces B may be curved from top to bottom about the source of light to assist the action. Specifications 834/10 and 16,110/11 are referred to.
