Abstract

Roller-and-ring mills.-Relates to a pulverizing-machine for general purpoes of the kind in which the material is crushed in a fixed cylinder or casing by the action of rapidly revolving rollers capable of both radial and rotary movement. The casing consists of a lower part B and an upper part A connected to the lower part by double hinges having removable pins so that by withdrawing one of the pins the part A can be raised about the other hinge. A felt joint forms a dust-proof connexion between the parts A and B. A rotary shaft driven by a pulley P is mounted in the casing and carries a suitable number, such as four, slotted disks G, G<1>, G<2>, G<3>. The rollers 1, 2, 3 are mounted in the slots in such a way that they are not in alinement in adjacent chambers formed by the disks G-G<3>. The disks also are provided with slots in which scrapers are arranged helically to feed the material through the casing from the feed-hopper K to the discharge shoot in which it is acted upon by the blast from a fan V which blows the fine particles through a screen S while the imperfectly ground material is collected for retreatment in the casing. The compartments formed by the disks G-G<3> are all lined with armour plates a, b, c of such size and weight that they can be handled by one man.
