Boxes formed of separate bodies combined in tiers or side by side.- Boxes of the kind used for transporting goods about factories &c. have the upper edges and bottom provided with projections and recesses capable of engaging with recesses and projections on corresponding parts of boxes of like construction, irrespective of whether the latter are arranged crossways or lengthways of the former. When the boxes are constructed of thin material, as shown, the upper edges of the sides 8 are increased in thickness by being provided with ledges 9, which are secured in position and braced by attachment to the sides in a variety of ways. The ledges are shown formed with longitudinal grooves 10 and transverse grooves 12, 13, adapted to receive longitudinal ribs or projections 11 or corresponding transverse projections on the bottoms of similar boxes. The ledges need not be continued the whole length of the sides, but may be formed only at essential points.
