Abstract

Sweeping-machines.-Relates to road-cleaning motor-vehicles provided with a main brush and side supplementary brushes which are raised off the ground when not required, and consists in mounting the supplementary brushes on separate shafts so that, by raising them and sliding them transversely, they may be stowed compactly at the rear of the vehicle. Fig. 2 is a rear view of a motor road-watering and sweeping machine showing a main inclined brush 16 mounted upon, and driven from, a transverse shaft 8, and side inclined brushes 19, 20 which overlap the main brush and are mounted upon, and driven from, transverse shafts 7, 6. The shaft 9 is driven from the rear axle 12 of the vehicle by chain gearing and drives the shafts 7, 6 by spur gearing 13, 14. The main brush carried by a framework 15 may be stowed against the rear of the vehicle by turning it about the shaft 8 by a rope 17 actuated by worm gearing 18 from above the driver's seat, and the side brushes, mounted on framework 21, 22, may be similarly stowed by turning them about their shafts by worm gears 25, 26 and ropes 23, 24, and afterwards moving the framework transversely along said shafts. Water from a tank 2 is sprinkled at the front part of the vehicle.
