Abstract

115,246. Scottorn, W. H., and Frost, A. Dec. 15, 1916. Sweeping-machines.-Relates to motor roadsweeping machines of the kind in which an inclined brush is driven from the differential shaft and in which the brush gear is readily removable when the vehicle is required for other purposes. According to the invention, the differential shaft 2 is provided with a double sprocket wheel, one part 13 of which drives the road wheels, and the other 3 is geared to a brush-driving shaft 9, the brush-driving gear being mounted on a. removable plate 10 at the rear of the chassis to protect the gear from mud and dust. In the form shown, double sprocket wheels are arranged at each end of the differential shaft, and the shaft 9 is connected by bevel-gear 28, 29, inclined shaft 30, and chain gear 32 to the brush shaft. The brush shaft is mounted in blocks which can be raised in guides 21, 22 on a brush casing 27 by operating links 23, 24 from a hand-wheel 25.
