Abstract

10,714. Timmins, J. G. April 30. Sale apparatus; delivery mechanism.-The articles are stored in peripheral recesses 16 of a rotary drum comprising two end disks 13 connected by distance-pieces 14. Guards 18, 19 serve to retain the articles in the recesses, a gap 20 between the gnards permitting the articles to be discharged from each compartment in turn into an external tray 7. The drum is rotated the space of one compartment at each operation of the apparatus, by a counterweighted pawl lever 30, which is raised into the operative position by the insertion of a coin. A shutter 23 working on the guard 18 is moved down to close the aperture 20 when loading the machine. Coin action, thrust, weight, and multiplecoin.-The coin, as it is thrust into the slot 6, forces back an arm 24 of the lever 30 against the action of a weight 32, thereby moving a driving-pawl 36 pivoted to the lever into engagement with the next pin 26 on the drum. After traversing a shoot 38, the coin momentarily depresses a coin lever 40, thereby withdrawing a projecting pin 39 from engagement with the pins 26, permitting the lever 30 to be returned by the action of the weight 32 and simultaneously rotate the drum. The insertion of several coins may be necessary, in which case the drum may be rotated the corresponding fraction of its requisite travel each time a coin is inserted, or the combined weight of the coins may be necessary to free the lever 40. Diverting improper coins.-The bottom of the shoot 38 is cut away so as to reject coins of insufficient diameter; which fall on to a shelf 55, serving to direct them to the money-box 46 or to an external tray.
