9930. Pearson, T. F. April 22. Couplings.-A draw-bar or coupling between a motor tractor and trailer consists of a link 4 connected to the tractor and a framework 1 connected to the trailer, the link and framework being pivoted to one another about the pivot 5 that they can turn in an horizontal plane. Springs 9 allow angular movement of the two members, but tend always to return them to their central position. In the construction shown, a rearward extension 4<a> of the link 4 engages a curved bar 8 fixed to the framework 1. In a modification, the curved bar may be dispensed with, and plate or other springs placed between the tail 4<a> of the link and the frame 1. In a further modification, the tail 4<a> is eliminated, and two opposite volute springs are mounted about the pivot 5.
