Resistance furnaces and ovents.-When tungsten wire being drawn has become too long to be treated in the apparatus described in the parent Specification, it is drawn through an apparatus having only a single chamber with a stuffing-box 71 at one end and the die 13 at the other. The wire is heated by passing along a groove in a 'bar 69 of tungsten &c. through which passes an electric current from water-cooled terminals 70.
