  Luftdichte Metallanschlüsse an Glaskörper.

PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i.

Airtight metal connections to the glass body.

In the parent patent no. 86172 a device is described for producing airtight metal connections on glass bodies, by means of which it is possible to carry out electrical currents through glass of a strength previously thought to be impossible. Incandescent lamps made using this method are, however, larger than would be necessary in view of their total watt consumption.

The object of the present invention is to arrange the metal connections in such a way that the lamp becomes significantly smaller and thus has a more pleasing appearance. Another advantage of this arrangement is that the mechanical methods of melting feet that are common in incandescent lamp technology can also be used here, so that the lamps are much cheaper. This is achieved in that the metal caps, which effect the airtight seal of the lamps. be laid inside the lamps.

FIGS. I and 2 show an embodiment which is well suited for smaller currents, for example up to 100 amps. The lamp base 2 is attached to the balloon 1 in the usual way.
 EMI1.1
the power supply lines 8, 8 are also clamped.

At higher currents, however, the contact resistances between the supply lines 8, the tubes 5 and the holders 6 become too great, so that the arrangement shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 proves to be more suitable here. The tube 5, into which the cap 4 runs out, penetrates the space delimited by the cap. The holder 6 is pushed into the tube 5 and clamped to the tube 5 by means of the clamp 9, which is located outside the lamp.

PATENT CLAIMS: i. Airtight metal connections to glass body according to patent no. 86172, characterized in that the metal caps are located inside the lamp.

   2. Airtight metal connections to glass bodies, characterized in that the tubes into which the caps expire are helical.
