Abstract

8426. Clarke, G. E. April 3. Stream-cutting machines ; rolling-machines.-Com prises a machine wherein dough is passed through break rolls to form a sheet which is returned upon itself to form an endless belt of dough, such belt being then passed continuously through the machine until the dough is thoroughly broken, after which the belt is severed, run out of the machine, and cut up. Masses of dough are fed by conveyers b, b', through graduated rolls a, a<2>, and the sheet so formed is lifted by a scraper c and delivered by rolls d to a return conveyer e which deposits it upon the conveyer b in front of the rolls a. The dough is deposited in regular folds by means of a belt n wound upon a roller m and anchored to a bar p, such belt passing around a roller o which is moved by chains q<1> to unwind the belt n to receive the dough from the conveyer e and is withdrawn, to deposit the dough in a fold, by rewinding the belt n on the roller m. When the dough has been sufficiently broken down, the belt of dough is severed by a knife t and run out of the machine on to a conveyer x which delivers it to a cutting- machine y. Means is describel for raising the scraper c simultaneously with the operation of the knife t.
