Abstract

8133. Mawson, J. R., [trading as Baker & Son, E.]. March 31. Cigar - piercers. - In a cigar - piercer of the kind in which a tubular cutter is employed located in a sheath and is adapted to be advanced against the action of a spring by a plunger projecting from the rear end of the piercer, means are provided to prevent accidental advancement of the cutter from its fully retracted position. The plunger 5 is provided with a pin 4 which operates in a slot 3, with which is connected a slotted extension 13 disposed so as to be out of alinement with the main slot. The slotted extension is provided with a small recess 14 into which the projection 4 enters when the plunger is operated and in order that the plunger may pass this recess 14, it is necessary to impart to it a partial rotary movement so as to carry the pin into the main slot 3.
