7688. Pearson, J. W. March 26. Spectacles and eyeglasses. - Means for securing rimless lenses to the bridges &c. of spectacles and eyeglasses comprise a stirrup a having one arm b which carries an internallythreaded bush c passing into the hole e in the lens f, the length of the bush being slightly less than the thickness of the lens. A securing-screw g passes into the bush, a washer h being interposed between the head of the screw and the lens. The stirrup is steadied by a lip k, which may abut against a flattened portion of the lens. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the arm b is in front of the lens, and the washer is replaced by a plate m engaging the bridge &c. n. The lip k may be divided so as to engage the periphery of the lens at two points. In a modified form, the screw may be secured to one arm of the stirrup and be engaged by an internally-threaded headed bush passing into the lens.
