Abstract
7358. Bedbrook, J. A. H. March 23. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-A sttamjet tube cleaner of the kind in which the flow of steam is controlled by a valve operated by pressing the cleaner against the end of the tube has two valves, one serving as a pilot valve. The device comprises a body a with or without a flange a<1> to protect the operator, connected to the steam supply by a union d, and carrying at its forward end a slidable cap h to which the end of the pilot-valve stem x is secured, as by a nut y. The cap h has helically-disposed channels to give the steam a whirling motion, which may be aided bv helical channels z in the nut y. The pilot valve u is first unseated, allowing a limited escape of steam, which is cut off when ports t have been covered, the main valve being unseated by the engagement of a shoulder k<1> in the cap h with the end of a sleeve portion m<1> on the main valve o.
