Shuttles having an eye A, Fig. 1, at the end of the cop recess are adapted to be threaded by passing the end of the weft through finger-holes B, C, and then drawing the weft along a slit D into a gapped eyelet E, the latter movement causing the weft to pass through slots in a partition F and in the eye A, and thus into the eye. The slot D extends from the hole C, and opens into a passage a<1> leading from the eye A to the eye E. Drag may be applied to the weft by flannel &c. fitted between the eye A and the point of the shuttle peg.
