Attaching to articles. -A hinge for the covers of street inspection boxes &c. such as are used for underground mains and pipes comprises a turning portion which is mounted on a pin or rod inside the box and is enclosed in a channel portion attached to the box cover so that the cover can be pulled away somewhat from the turning portion to expose it for cleaning purposes. Fig. 1 shows a hinge member e turning on a pin c, and a channel portion h, j on the cover b normally enclosing the parts c, d. When the cover is lifted slightly and pulled away from the hinge, the member e slides in the channel h until it is arrested by the engagement of the projections f, i.
