Abstract

6541. Rudd, F. A. March 14. [Cognate Application, 9466/14.] Controlling different functions by same handle or lever.-The flow of fuel from the carburettor float chamber to the nozzle is controlled by a valve actuated by the driver of an automobile through the brake and clutch levers. In Fig. 5, an arrangement is shown wherein the valve is closed on applying the brake, and is opened on taking out the clutch to enable the engine to run free. The brake pedal g pushes the valveactuating rod e, which carries a collar e' adapted to be struck by a lever k when the pedal h is moved to take out the clutch. A modification of this arrangement is also described. The air supply is not affected, and air only may pass to the engine.
