Abstract

6045. Maas, J. A. March 10, 1913, [Convention date]. Levels.-Relates to methods of sighting guns in which a spirit level is employed in combination with a scale and a mirror, and consists mainly in the use, in this combination, of a level in which the glass tube 1 is bent uniformly, so that the elevation of the gun is directly determined by the position of the bubble relative to a scale. There may be two scales 7, 8, Fig. 4, one scale 7 corresponding to the range graduations of the backsight, and the other 8 having uniform graduations. The scale 8 is read by means of a mirror 6 fitted in a lid 4, shown in the closed position in Fig. 3.
