Abstract

5834. Sargent, G. H. March 7. Gauge glasses.-A protector having a transparent front is held in close contact with the glass so as to afford it support. The front is so shaped as to increase the length of arc within which the glass is visible. In the gauge shown, the curved glass front 27, Fig. 3, which may be made in one piece, is held against the glass 14 and against the metal back 22 by bands 31 bolted to ears at the top and bottom of the metal back. Asbestos packing 28 is provided at the back of the glass. The glass front may he formed with flat faces arranged at an angle, as shown in Fig. 6.
