Sleepers, metal, and securing rails thereto ; rails ; sound and vibration, preventing.-A metallic railway sleeper 1 has rail-securing blocks 4 resiliently formed by the cut-away portions 9 and formed with a transverse rib 13 adapted to fit a corresponding rib 12 on the rail-securing member 6 which clamps the rail by a bolt 7 and nut 8. The bolt 7 is integral or otherwise connected with the member 6. To facilitate the removal of a broken sleeper without disturbing the rails, a key 10 flanged and bevelled at one end is inserted between the rail and supporting-block 4.
