Multiple; raising, lowering, and positioning soundboxes. - The apparatus comprises a number of gramophone records a<1> provided with movable tone-arms e bearing sound-boxes f and communicating with a common sound tube g, and is arranged so that any record can be selected, and the chosen record reproduced after operating the coin mechanism. The records a<1> are carried by turntables a mounted on a common shaft b. The tone-arms are normally supported by cams i, any one of which can be rotated after prepayment to permit the corresponding tone-arm to drop on to its record ; and simultaneously the baffle-plate m of the tonearm in question is rotated through links l so as to put the arm in communication with the sound tube. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, the cams carry sectors q driven by worms r connected through bevel-gearing to bevel-wheels v loosely mounted on a shaft w. A wheel y on the coinoperated shaft x may be moved into gear with any one of the bevels v. In an alternative arrangement, the sectors q and the bevel-gearing are replaced by bell-crank levers. Adjustable arms p may be used to limit the movement of the tone-arms, which may be returned to the commencement of the record after each operation by adjustable arms n on a spindle o adapted to be rotated automatically or by hand.
