Corrosion, preventing.-To prevent corrosion of the sheet-iron ice moulds or cells and other iron parts of freezing-tanks containing brine or the like, the ice cells are coated with a metal such as lead or zinc, and strips of a metal such as zinc, aluminium, or cast-iron, which is lower in the solution-pressure series than iron and lead, are attached to the coating. Such strips of metal may be in the form of bands soldered around the upper edges of the ice cells.
