Abstract

2590. Birkbeck, H., [Quantin, J. J. A.]. Jan. 31. Air, gas, and steam pressure sprayers; nozzles for producing whirling and like sprays.-Compressed air from an inlet 6 draws atmospheric air or gases, or both, through one or more inlets 3 into a preferably annular enlargement 2, into which steam may also be forced or drawn, and the mixture sprays the liquid fuel supplied through one or more lateral inlets 13 into the barrel 1, which is provided with a jacket 1<a> adapted to deliver steam around the barrel end. The suction pipes 3 are provided with funnelshaped outer ends having perforated covers, and are adapted to be turned towards the burner nozzle so that hot air may be drawn into the burner. The steam is emitted from the jacket 1<a> through one or more circles of holes 11 which may be grooved spirally, and a small pivoted pipe with a perforated end supplies steam from the jacket beneath the ends of the pipes 3.
