Abstract
222. Fisher, Brown, & Bayley, and Fenn, A. Jan. 5.. Bed-lifts.-An invalid's lifting-device, comprising a removable crane-like part or pole carrying a depending strap &c. to be grasped by the invalid, is removably attached to the head of a hospital or other bed by tapered or conical parts on the pole and tapered or conical sockets, eyes, &c. on the bedstead end. The socket b cast on the rail a is opensided and is provided with stops to engage projections on the conical part d on the crane-like part c<1>. A conical member, which may be secured in the bottom end of the part c<1> by a chilled iron casting, is adapted to engage an eyepiece e.
