Abstract

29,804. Hampson, W., and Lawrence, J. Dec. 27. Dividing-instruments.-An instrument for trisecting angles comprises a divided disk with arms B O, B P, B O<1>, B P<1> pivoted at its centre B. The swivelled pivots 0, P, O<1>, P<1> move in a circular groove A<1> B<1> C<1> D<1>, and arms N K, M J, attached to the pivots M, N and moving in the same groove together with arms K O, J P, complete two equilateral figures BOKN and B M J P. Pointers attached to arms B 0, B P and to pivots M, N serve to mark the angle to be trisected and the parts required respectively. The arms B O<1>, B P<1> and connected arms may either be independent of the arms B 0, B P or may be geared thereto.
