Abstract

28,421. Doi, R. Dec. 9. Holders. - An adapter is provided with a regulating resistance. In the form shown the shell of a screw plug A is connected through a clip B and a conductor T to a screw socket O, and the centre contact E is connected through a spring D, resistance I, and spring N with the centre contact P of the socket O. The resistance coil is carried on a transverse shaft pivoted in a preferably bell-shaped porcelain or like body L and rotatable by means of a handle K. The windings are connected to studs H spaced around one end of the bobbin, and adapted to engage the spring N; the other end of the bobbin carries a conducting-ring G, which always engages the spring D. The ring G is connected to one end of the resistance by a conductor U, Fig. 4, insulated by asbestos or the like, so that the resistance may be cut out entirely. The body L fits in an extension of the socket O and is closed by a preferably milled top C of porcelain. In a modification, the adapter may be of bayonet or like type.
