Abstract
28,258. Campbell, F. W. Dec. 17. Mantles. -The mantle is provided with an internal incandescent part or filament constructed so as not to retain or confine the flame and arranged so as to produce incandescence when the flame is turned down. The incandescent part may consist of single or compound threads, an open network, or strips of woven fabric supported by the mantle or the mantle ring. In one form, one or more web-shaped diaphragms b, Fig. 1, are arranged in the mantle. In a second form, concentric rings are supported by threads from the mantle ring, as shown in Fig. 3. In Fig. 6, an incandescent filament h is shown arranged below and carried by the burner mouth, and a weblike structure b may be attached to the burner mouth above the filament.
