26,676. Fister, A. Nov. 20. Corkscrews. - Relates to a corkscrew in which springs, stressed by the act of screwing the corkscrew into the cork, facilitate the withdrawal of the cork. The corkscrew a is integrally attached to a screwed spindle b working through threads formed in the partition c of a sleeve d. A hand-wheel is attached to the top of the spindle. Springs k, i are arranged as shown, the spring i surrounding pins f depending from the partition c and carrying a disk g located in a sleeve e adapted to rest on the bottle mouth. In operation, on turning the bandwheel, the screw penetrates the cork, the spring k being compre-sed, and friction then causing the sleeve d to turn with the spindle, so compressing the sprit g i, which, when stressed sufficiently, withdraws the cork. On turning the hand-wheel the reverse way, the cork is stripped off the screw.
