Cultivators. - A rotary cultivator, which is connected to a tractor and driven by a universally jointed shaft, comprises a shaft carrying knives for dividing the soil into strips, picks for cutting the strips into small pieces, and buckets for taking up the top soil and the manure on it and throwing them to the rear into trenches formed by the buckets. The cultivator frame 2 is provided with rear wheels 3 and is connected to the tractor by a vertical pivot 5. The wheels are adjustable simultaneously by racks 24, pinions 23, and crank handles 26. On the cultivator shaft 1 are keyed disks 6 carrying adjustable knives 14 and separated by square boxes 7 the sides of which are prolonged by plates 9, 10 so as to form buckets. Detachable steel knives are provided at the edges of the buckets, and picks 13 are adjustably fixed-on the boxes 7. A cover-plate 28 is provided. The shaft 1 is driven by chains 15 from a countershaft 17, which is driven by bevel-gearing and a universally jointed shaft 20.
