P l a n e s, arrangement and construction of.-The longitudinal spars D, E of the wing B of an aeroplane are connected by a single series of struts K to a lower wing C in the case of a biplane, and to a laterally-extending girder in the case of a monoplane. The struts are preferably I-shaped, and capable of bending fore-and-aft in order that the load on the lower wing may be transferred to the upper plane in case the centre of pressure of the lower plane is not coincident with the axis of the strut. A similar strut H connects the wings to the body A. Brace wires L, M, N are arranged as shown.
