Point-tongues, mounting of.-Tramway and like points and switches constructed from standard sections of girder rails comprise three or more specially - formed packing-pieces fitted to and resting upon the rail flanges and webs. One of the packing- pieces c<1>, Figs. 8 and 9. houses the tongue heel and holds the ends of the two junction rails a firmly together. The toe end of the tongue engages another piece c<2>, Fig. 12, and the tongue rests throughout its length upon a bottom plate d carried by intermediate packing-pieces c and the piece c'. These packing-pieces also carry the check or guard member f.
