[Cognate Application, 7729/14.] Fermenting. - Yeast collected by a funnel 1 from an open fermenting-vessel A runs into a closed vessel B from which it is forced bv air or gas pressure through a filter-press C arranged either above or below the fermenting vessel. The filtrate is returned either through a gutter or a closed pipe 7 to the fermenting-vessel. The vessel B is mounted on wheels adapted to run on an overhead rail 11, or on floor rails, so as to collect the yeast from a number of fermenting - vessels. The filter-press may be mounted on the same rails. The pipes through which the yeast and the filtrate pass, and the filter press, may be jacketed for the circulation of a cooling-liquid. According to the Provisional Specifications, the fermenting-vessel may be closed and the yeast expelled from it by gas pressure to the press, the filtrate being returned either by gravity or by a pump.
