Abstract

18,819. Cross, E. Aug. 19. Shoe collectors.-When electrically-propelled road vehicles having ordinary road wheels and supplied with current from overhead conductors are used in conjunction with au electric tramway system, a detachable steering-arm and current-collector engages one of the rails. A socket B, pivoted between lugs A' secured to one of the steering- axles, receives one end of a detachable arm C, the other end of which carries a two-part shoe. One part D of the shoe engages the groove in the rail, while the other part D bears upon the flat part of the rail. The arm is secured in its socket by a catch controlled by a spring G, which also serves to press the shoe on to the rail.
