[Cognate Application, 1342/14.] Wheel-guards and obstruction-removers.-A scoop 10 pivoted to a vehicle is lowered when a gate 1 is struck by an obstacle, and means may be provided to lock the gate in the raised position. Fixed wheel guards 17 in front of the wheels may be used. On motor-vehicles the device may be mounted so as to move with the steering-wheels. The scoop 10 is pivoted at 11 and is connected to the gate 1 by the arm 9, spring 9<a>, and links 9<b>, 7. The link 7 is fixed to the axle 4 of.the'gate. A spring 14 normally keeps the scoop raised. At the rear of the gate an extension 2 may be fixed or hinged thereto. When no locking-means are used, the extension 2 serves to keep the object on the scoop after it has been picked up. When the extension is hinged, it may be folded against the gate and held thereto by catches. The locking-means for the gate may comprise a loop 16 terminating in a pedal and adapted to engage with a notch 15 in the link 9<b>, when the scoop is lowered. The device is reset by means of the pedal 16.
