Abstract

Regulating.-The rotary guide-vanes of an hydraulic turbine are controlled from the shaft a and two-armed lever b mounted thereon, automatically, by a centrifugal governor c acting through a fluid-pressure relay motor e, and manually, by a hand-wheel l, screwed shaft m and pivoted link n provided with a slot r in which a pin p upon the lever b moves idly when the control is automatic, but the lost motion can be taken up by the hand-wheel if it is desired to assume control by hand. If manual control is desired for an extended period, a loose pin is inserted through the holes o in the lever b and link n to connect the lever and link together.
