15,833. Gappisch, J. A. July 9. Boots and shoes, drying; trees.-A drying device for footwear is made of a porous, fire-proof, moisture-absorbing material, such as chamotte. The form shown consists of a toe-part 3 and a heel-part 4, which may be hinged together at 5. It is formed with grooves 2 and holes 1 to increase the ventilating and drying effects. It is preferably also formed with two holes 7 adapted to receive respectively a thermometer and an electric heating- device. The appliance is intended to be impregnated with volatile disinfecting or deodorizing substances, which are therefore transmitted to the footwear and from this to the foot. Asbestos or the like may be used instead of or in addition to chamotte.
