Abstract
13,327. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Sept. 2.3, 1912, Isoprene is obtained by treating the vapours of methylbutanol esters with catalysts such as alumina, barium chloride, nickel chloride, &c. advantageously under reduced pressure. Methylbutanol esters are produced by the action of a salt of an organic acid upon 2:3- or 2:4-dihalogen-2-methylbutanes or mixtures thereof with chlormethylbutene. Specification 21,616/12 is referred to.
