Abstract

12,840. Nosworthy, W. H., and Prescott, S. J. June 2. Floats for aerial machines. - To enable the float of a hydro-aeroplane to leave the water readily, in place of a single flat bottom to the float a doubly - inclined bottom d is provided, and the two parts a are separated so as to constitute a double float as shown. The forward portion of each float is curved upwards in the form of an ordinary boat's bow. In a modification, the deck b is extended across both floats and the space between the floats is supplied with air through apertures in the deck. In a further modification, the sloping bottoms are obtained by inclining two rectangular floats with respect to each other.
