Bore-hole apparatus.- A roller boring - drill comprises a head, a revoluble cutter extending diametrically across the head, and side cutters revolving in planes converging into the head, all but the active portions of the drill being housed in the head. As shown, the drill bead A carries cutting-rollers B, C on spindles 11, and also carries, on an horizontal shaft 3, tapered cutting- rollers D, E with interposed washers 7; the rollers D, E form a conical recess and tte rollers B, C cut a path around the recess, the teeth 9 of the latter rollers also cleaning the side of the hole. The cutting-surface of the roller C is wider and extends farther from the drill axis than that of the roller B, so as to cut a hole which allows clearance for the drill, or to under-ream a hole. The rollers B, C have conical recesses to receive wearing-blocks 10, between which b'ocks and washers 15 the rollers are secured by threaded spindles 11 which are locked by set-screws 16. Water passages 18 are provided, and also ducts 17 by which lubricant is led to the cutting-rollers from a holder secured to a flange 2. In a modification, the blocks 10 are provided with roller bearings or other frictionreducing devices.
