Abstract
11,492. Townsend, L. G. O. May 17. Hook-headed botts.-Relates to the form of head of hook-headed bolts used in a horizontal position for straining wire fencing to the standards, the hook engaging vertical wires of the fence closely on either side of the connected horizontal wire. Fig. 1 shows the extremity of one of the longitudinal wires a with the last vertical wire b engaged by two hooked prongs e<1>, e<2> of a screw straining-hook d, which passes through the metal fence post c and is provided with a nut g and a washer. Another form of straining-hook also adapted to grip the vertical wire closely on either side of the intersection is shown in Fig. 3, and is formed by bending the end portion j of a single hook into a plane at right-angles.
