Treads.-A floor or stair tread consists of a rubber or similar upper part 4 secured to a sheet-metal foundation 1 provided with V- shaped tongues 3 bent up from the sheet. The tongues are slightly bent out of the vertical in the final pressing together of the rubber and foundation so as to hold the rubber securely.
